051 destroyer at the helm of the third mission: nrol 39 mastered at reel mastering, london

ant orange’s third 12&#8243, for karaoke kalk forms something resembling a trilogy for the label. “right there” is built on a familiar rhodes-n-bass aesthetic, combining the lo-fi jazz of 2017’s “arkupe” with the soulful vocal motifs of 2015’s “s/t”, while introducing more electronic ingredients and taking an increasingly exploratory approach to rhythm and composition. the opening title track clocks in at over 8 minutes, growing slowly from soft tickled keys to a full-bodied groove circled by airy synths and fragmented rnb vocals. “drunk in the trunk” then shifts down a gear, looping another vocal cut over a lazy, stripped-back wahwah vibe. side a closes with experimental jazz skit “let that sink in”, its jerky tempo and flashes of light reminiscent of a late-night subway ride. the b-side takes a more contemplative tone, with the meditative arpeggios and sparse drums of “comfort zone” leading into the dusky west coast stroll of “muscle beach”, before “rudis goes offline” picks up the tempo for a last shimmering dance. the closing track “a frozen lake” sounds just like it sounds – chilled by name and by nature.

dekmantel regular matrixxman returns with the third, and final instalment in the sector series, part iii: polyphony. in this triptych, the producer from san fransisco sets out to highlight the key components behind the sounds and style of techno, exploring the range within the confines of a particular limitation. following parts i and ii, which looked at rhythm, and acid, charles mccloud duff charters the realm of polyphony with four, meticulously produced techno tracks, expanding his repertoire of cult, dancefloor music.

odd music s stroboscope 006 motions into rotation after a long awaited period. once again odd give us some insight into their creative genius with a three piece of shifty neo-noir dubs. forty-five, thirty three & a third and nine come to life with dark melodies and crisp jazzy percussion amidst a set of chromatic synth progressions. each track rolls seamlessly into the other, but with their own definition in the collection. soon to be available, this release is another great edition in the odd music discography.-

the olympos series continues its exploration of godly themes and adventurous techno with a third instalment, this time calling on demetra, the goddess of the harvest and agriculture. there s a consistently deep tone to all four of the tracks on offer here, employing swooping pads and undulating bleep lines to conjure up a warm, early 90s feel that would sound right at home on an early b12 single. -pump it- is especially deep, using the barest of ingredients to take you on a dreamy, machine-powered trip.

portuguese artist ka§par gives parisian label escapade its third release. the four tracks span across a wide range of electronic sounds, telling a story that calls on many emotions. ‘wail of a loon opens the record with an experimental atmosphere. after this laid back introduction, ka§par goes into a much stronger style: ‘riggeds energy and catchy, twirling melody make it a total banger. on the b side, the mood gets much warmer and groovy. ‘vital is the perfect tune to warm up a dancefloor, thanks to a swinging rhythm, mesmerizing vocal samples and funky synth lines. ‘alma douro rounds up the record with strong jazzy vibes. beautiful chords and piano solos never dissapoint!

great heavyweight 2lp-set featuring the best tracks from the 1972 to 1975 period including the group s signature track -gamma ray-. birth control is among the longest running german bands and were formed wayback in 1968 in berlin. the group had several line-up changes over the years and fused krautrock with progressive rock and the blues rock genre, with percussive keyboards & synthesizer effects an unique sound was created.

just as magnified record grooves reveal dust constellations and lunar landscapes, so too does godblesscomputers’ third album. “solchi” is a deep search into previous moments in lorenzo nada’s lifetime, influenced by the presence and power of music. his process began with the recovery of some old cassettes, mixtapes nearly forgotten, audio recording of voices from his childhood, and lots of dusty jazz, soul, and hip-hop records. as the starting point of this travel merge with its end, past and present combine to form gbc’s current sound. warm electronic production rooted by grooving bass lines form the core of a kaleidoscope of sixteen tracks, colored by synthesizers, guitar echoes, scratches, samples, fading voices and kalimba. the album is a collection of sixteen stories, sixteen soundscapes, each of them gbc’s tribute to the path taken thus far, an homage to his love for music. the recording and studio work took place over a year, with the adding and subtracting of many elements. for this project, gbc invited several musicians into his home studio, both old friends and new. they helped to recreate the sounds of the original recovered recording, as well as add fresh ideas to the project.

multi-platinum artist awolnation announced the release of their third studio album, here come the runts, on february 2, 2018. bruno spent 2016 crafting the album in his home studio nestled in the coastal mountain range separating the pacific ocean and the suburbs of los angeles where he grew up. the secluded location is reflected throughout the album. “the record definitely has a feel to it that seems parallel to the vibe of this mountain and the land,” bruno notes. “it’s like a non-gmo record. there’s no fake shit on there, none of the vocals are tuned. it’s all real playing.”

psyfunk is a record series curated by franco cinelli, driving force of the south american underground dance music landscape and argentina’s most respected producer and dj. with psyfunk, cinelli provides a selection of minutely crafted and slowly-evolving extended dj tools. for this third chapter, cinelli calls on young upcoming talents from argentina and uruguay. opening up the a.side, bodeler lands with his reduced ghettotek funk, which is already one of the deadly dancefloor weapons of some of the most respected djs out there. irresistible! following up, is richard hz. other very promising artist on argentine grounds, hz provides here a burning break track, with clear touches of psychedelic acid and mystery. an ideal track to keep the floor floating in thin air. on the flip! alan castro, hailing from the atlantic coast of bahia blanca, produces here an intimate number packed with melancholy. jazzy relaxing swings under a sea of glitches, afterhour material. bringing this record to the runout is a wonderful and rare appearance of the uruguayan z@p. “mental telepathy” is resolutely funky and a clear flashback to the us midwest right when house became techno.

eagles & butterflies readies the third instalment in his art imitating life label series. boldly detuned and expertly defined, the last dance showcases trademark e&b chords and arpeggio sequences, backed with elegant vintage pads, tumbling, drum machines and percussion. the flip sees two reinterpretations of the title track, where a nineties broken-beat is accompanied by a beatless, synthapella edit.

after the first two results, the third chapter of the saga guarantees the usual elegance rich in mystery. the deep sounds continue to blend into rhythmic micro-house for a release that will be danced and enjoyed aagain in the best clubs of globe.

in 2016 simon pitt and alex kassian formed planet sundae recordings. opal sunn ii is their third release. part i was out july 2017 with andrew weatherall taking a massive shine to it, playing all 4 tracks at a gig in barcelona. it was championed also by massimiliano pagliara, of ostgut fame. opal sunn is live-performance duo al kassian & hiroaki oba. formed in 2015, the pair have recorded countless hardware-driven improvisational sessions, puzzled together to create abstract musical journeys. the aim is to transcend the improvisational magic of the studio jam and funnel it into the live performance. having played at rainbow disco club 2016 in japan & atlas electronic 2016 in morocco,the pair took both excited audiences by surprise with their heavily improvised live sessions. opal sun ii explores darker shades of dance music.

a true holy grail from the cloud one catalog, dont let my rainbow pass me by is the third of a string of titles on golden flamingo produced by the p&p duo of patrick adams and peter brown and featuring vocals from guardian angel singer margot williams. similar to previous cloud ones productions, this record had all the elements of a patrick adams classic, but with vocal arrangements that foreshadowed the work he would do with inner life and jocelyn brown at salsoul. perhaps not so much of a concidence then that margot williams would provide backing vocals on inner lifes second and final album. even though it was originally released in 1981, dont let my rainbow pass me by is still championed by high-profile deejays today. over the years, its been notably sampled in basement jaxxs romeo and covered by todd terje and prins thomas in reinbagan as a dub-disco cut. available for the first time since its original release, our only piece of advise is to don’t let this classic pass you by.

to make it to album number three, a group has to make a compelling debut and then avoid the sophomore slump. if you reach that third record, you are supposed to be a professional, a stone-faced musical grown-up. but don’t tell that to de lux. after their 2014 debut voyager and 2015 follow-up generation, the la duo is gearing for its best and brightest lp, more disco songs about love. the difference between this album and all the rest? let s ask the band: we like to say voyage was our baby, generation was our baby all grown up and more disco songs about love thinks growing up sucks and just wants to party smart.

estetika 001 introduces the first release of the new imprint of jason patrick and pat king. the label s objective is to release a signature style of timeless techno. berlin-based artist mekas (originally from buenos aires) delivers the first 3 track record, nodata. a1 starts off the release with lebreton featuring qik. thick kick and bass anchor a beautifully warm hypnotic synth riff that filters meticulously throughout the track working hand in hand with a subtle atmospheric pad and spacious reverb touches to create a uniquely huge engulfing sound. b1 is the second track titled marshfield, a heavy tune for peak time. its kick, toms, and bassline form a rugged groove for its dark synth, which along with the mysterious pad capture the essence of the track while ride cymbals glisten and automate throughout. b2 is the third and final track, nothing, which continues the dark and mysterious vibe of the release. an acidy mid-range synth part works along with an ominous pad and well programmed hi-hats, claps, and rides with just the right reverb treatment to provide space and depth to the track.

having established itself with eps from duke slammer and dmx krew, dublin’s modern magic welcomes bari’s armonics for the label’s third release. a trained pianist and resident dj/curator of the we talk event series in his home city, armonics draws influence from electronic music across the past 40 years: chicago & acid house, italo- & electro-disco, new wave, synth-pop and vaporwave.

amsterdam label taped artifact has lined up an ep from merv aka brian oldenborg and jan christiansen. after the re-melted reissue on styrax in 2015, this is the pairs third new ep in three years since coming back after first making music back in the mid nineties. their warm dub and techno style is still very much fresh and arresting. blueprint opens the ep with eight enthralling minutes of percolating drums and shuffling hi hats. frosty yet warm, it’s a cavernous affair with a hypnotic riffs sucking you in over and over. shine is more upright techno, but the rock solid kicks are still draped with rippling, static coated chords that ripple out in all directions. rotundum closes things out with synth waves gently breaking over hunched drums that build the pressure. it’s tense and engaging while remaining thoroughly atmospheric.

get pissed is a french duo known in paris for their popular -wrecka spinazz club- and -belleville boogie- parties that included daniele baldelli, margie, boris from ostgut etc on the bills. they are signing here singular ruff mpc tracks for their debut ep that has an uncommon signature between jazz, techno and deep beatdown. laroye on flipside has been already in the broken beat game for a decade at least. you might remember his three eps on faces records including some kinetic space jazz remix from inverse cinematics better known today as mcde. the french producer now based in brighton delivers something special again, journeying through disco, jazz and those west london signature beats. mgbk001 is an ep of two halves. the a-side bumps with two very deep house jams, whilst the b-side sees a freestyle disco-jazz we call broken beats. music for the mind, body and universal soul!

swedish producer varg has cooked up four tracks using elektron gear. the first track is a probing, ambient and serendipitous take on soundscaping. the second is a hard-kicking, massive and gently authoritative dance beat. third, you have something out of a spacious mechanical workshop. the final track is an exquisitely mystical, moody, twin peaksy closure.

strut present a brand new 12” reissue of shina williams monster nigerian disco anthem “agb’oju l’ogun”, pairing the rare original album version (originally released on phonodisk nigeria) with the more sparse 12” remix which surfaced later internationally on earthworks. this is the third release on strut’s new original masters series.

echoplex signs his “entering the sky” to sungate as the third release of the labels catalogue. echoplex, previously known for his vast label appearances across the world, now delivers a beautifully crafted four track original ep. this record balances smoothly between a forward thinking and highly effective techno tracks. specially envision for the body and soul, for the dance floor and for the home listening pleasure.

the third edition of the magnum opus series features thee art ov metals, a raw, menacing, post-punk inflected cut, drenched in reverb over an insistent ebm groove from broken english club alongside the pristine cardio bleeps and rave hypnosis of claus fuss’ static ace.

the third outing for modern manners emerges on the back of two very strong 12inches that introduced this anonymous outfit to the world. timeless vibe continues where the last release left off, building up a wonderfully cosmic bed of processed melody under which casual hand played percussion and warm bass notes can linger. azzahar too keeps things pleasantly soporific with its gentle pace and lilting guitar refrains, and then middle east manners rounds this excellent trio of eps out with a beautifully realised swirl of sounds that find focus once a kick drum starts pulsing and the percussion starts building. quite who modern manners are is a mystery at this stage, but across these three 12inches they ve certainly made their presence felt in the softest, most laid back of ways.

every story has to come to an end at some point. the final chapter of this piece of musical literature is written and wrapped. the third release on het is deliverd by hagen richter. the 4-track-ep has a wide range, which spans from industrial soundscapes, elektrotechnoid tunes up to the classic types of techno vibes. the mutual basis of all cuts is the approach of storytelling, which is the artists goal as a dj as well. future tales are in the making.

we are extremely happy to welcome malouane to our roster for this third release. the atmosphere of malouane is unique: raw, melodic and full of details with charm. -long way for the homies- will recall artists like mcde or rick wade, quite in the same vein: jazzy, soul and house. the second, -keep yo mama clean- very catchy too: drums, beautiful basses and small samples interact with each other. these elements work perfectly, because malouane has a real sense of musical arrangement, a real mastery of sampling. -this is supposed to be an outro- is the last track of the original tracks: it is a little slower than the others but a great wealth: a real charm and a true personality emerges from this piece. the multitude of details and, again, the mastery of the sample make it a piece as much club as listening. cody currie has proposed his own vision. the young english producer made a great remix by putting his style and clement’s together. finally, times are ruff also offers their reinterpretation of keep yo mama clean: softer and quite faithful to the atmosphere of this ep, with a small taste of chaos in the cbd, the dutch have done a remarkable job.

les graciés is a collaboration in the truest sense between paris-based sound artist gaël segalen and deepblak co-founder afrikan sciences. segalen’s experiments in electroacoustic sound met the wider world this year via a debut lp for erratum, an arresting work that showcases her ability to merge hypnotic murk ala angus maclise with the hard concréte of parmegiani & reibel. segalen’s ihearu imprint / organisation is a platform for her various doings, including psychogeographical audio works and multi-media collaborations, as well as servicing as a reference point for other contemporary female artists working across various mediums. eric douglas porter aka african sciences has been deconstructing and re-building forms of contemporary black music since the mid-2000’s, through releases on deepblak (the label he co-runs with aybee) and pan. his musical universe is one of warping cadences and celestial melody, referencing the bold work of percussionists like milford graves & art jenkins, the dissonant chords of motor city techno and stripped back essence of early chicago house matched with broken hard bop sentiments: all tied together with an aesthetic that sits somewhere between sun ra’s omniverse, jean giraud mœbius and dogon cosmology. together as le graciés, segalen and porter make a wholly unclassifiable strain of music that, while containing recognisable elements of each individual s work, also creates a third entity in the process, which can be heard to stunning effect on their forthcoming debut lp ‘low doses’ for firecracker recordings.
